Staff Day 2026
The Seymour Library will close on Wednesday, April 8th for its annual Staff Development Day. The library will reopen on Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 am for regular hours.

2026 Library Board Meetings
The Seymour Library Board of Trustees will continue meeting every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. The first meeting will commence on Wednesday, January 21st. Agendas, reports, and board packets can be found under the “About” drop down through “Library Board” and “Board Minutes”.

Change to December Holiday Schedule
The Seymour Library will close early on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025 at 4:00 pm. The Seymour Library will close for the day on Thursday, December 25th, 2025 for holiday observance. The Seymour Board of Trustees has elected to close on Friday, December 26th, 2025 as well, due to an administrative error in holiday accrual. The library will reopen on Saturday, December 27th at 10:00 am.
The board will make no other changes for holiday closings, and will still hold its monthly board meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 6:30 pm. The library appreciates everyone’s understanding.

Upcoming Holiday Schedule
The Seymour Library will close early on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 4:00 pm. The Seymour Library will close for the day on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. Have a safe and enjoyable day! We will see you on Friday, November 28th!

2026 Budget Adopted
The Seymour Library Board of Trustees has adopted a budget for the 2026 fiscal year at its November meeting. A copy an be found under the About tab of the homepage, under Library Board and Board Minutes. The trustees accepted the budget as-is, with potential cost-savings adjustments in December’s meeting. The budget allows the library to continue its function of promoting literacy and lifelong learning for all at the level of expectation set by the communities of Sweden, Clarkson, and Brockport. We appreciate all of you, and look forward to another excellent year in 2026!

Friends Book Sale
The Friends of the Seymour Library will host their semi-annual book sale, beginning on Wednesday, October 15th at 6:00 pm. The book sale will continue through the week until Saturday, October 18th. Please stop by to see the many, many book and support the Friends!

Library Board Meeting 10/15
The Seymour Library Board of Trustee will meet on Wednesday, October 15th at 6:30 pm in the library’s Local History Room. These meetings follow Open Meeting Law and allow members of the public to join and participate. The Friends of the Seymour Library will host their semi-annual book sale in the Duryea Room, beginning at 6:00 pm. The agenda can be found on the Board page under the About tab of this website.

Library Open 10/13
The Seymour Library will remain open on Monday, October 13th for our regular hours. The library will open at 10:00 am and close at 8:00 pm. Please come see what the library has going on!

Library Opens Late 9/24/25
The Seymour Library will open at 1:00 pm, rather than 10:00 am, on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025. The library will close at 8:00 pm. The library will have a new server installed to maintain its technology infrastructure, and staff will receive training.
Please note: the library’s PCs will have very limited access, if any, all day. Patrons will likely not have the ability to log in to the library’s computers until the server replacement completes.
More information to follow. We appreciate the community, and look forward to more upcoming developments.

After Hours/Star Party
The Seymour Library Foundation has brought back an annual favorite. After Hours at the Seymour Library will take place on Saturday, October 4th from 7:00 pm to 10:00(ish) pm. The Foundation has priced tickets at $25.00. This event is open to ticket holders 21+. Purchase your tickets here:
While After Hours brings together adults, check out the library’s Star Party program on the Seymour lawn. The library, in cooperation with the Rochester Museum and Science Center and Monroe County Library System, will bring telescopes, binoculars, and star charts to observe the night sky. The library will also offer a nature program, astrology charts, and a history of the constellations in mythology. The program will run 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for all ages.
