भारत में प्रतिवर्ष ૧૪ सितंबर को हिन्दी दिवस मनाया जाता है। सन 1949 में भारत की संविधान सभा में हिन्दी को भारत की राजभाषा घोषित किया गया। इस दिन की खुशी में भारत में 14 सितंबर को हिन्दी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। पूरे देश में हिन्दी भाषा से जुड़े लोग, संस्थान, विश्वविद्यालय आदि के द्वारा विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जाता है।
हिन्दी भाषा से जुड़ा हिन्दी विकिपीडिया हिन्दी भाषा का एक मात्र ऑनलाइन ज्ञानकोश है। देश और दुनिया के कई योगदांकर्ताओ के द्वारा इस ज्ञानकोश का विकास किया जाता है। हिन्दी विकिपीडिया सितंबर के अंत तक हिन्दी दिवस मनाएगा। हिन्दी दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में हिन्दी विकिपीडिया पर लेख प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया है। इस प्रतियोगिता में जुड़कर सदस्य हिन्दी भाषा के ज्ञानकोश को समृद्ध बनाने के लिए ज्यादा से ज्यादा विषयों के ऊपर नए नए लेख बनाएँगे और महीने के अंत तक उत्साहपूर्व विभिन्न लेखों का निर्माण किया जाएगा।
हिन्दी विकिपीडिया के योगदानकर्ता सदस्य:स और सदस्यઃआर्यावर्त के द्वारा इस प्रतियोगिता का संचालन किया जा रहा है। हिनहोने बताया कि हिन्दी विकिपीडिया पे स्थानिक तौर पे प्रथम बार ही इस प्रकार कि प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जा रहा है और आगे हिन्दी दिवस पे प्रति वर्ष इस प्रकार कि प्रतियोगिता आयोजित करने का विचार है जो इस प्रतियोगिता कि सफलता के ऊपर निर्भर है। प्रतियोगिता में सभी सदस्य बिना किसी लालच के कुछ लेने के लिए नहीं किन्तु कुछ देने के लिए एसे कार्यों में जुड़कर अपना योगदान कर रहे हैं। फिर भी सभी प्रतिभागियों को प्रमाणपत्र दिये जाएंगे और प्रोत्साहक इनाम देने के लिए भी हम विचार कर रहे हैं। हिन्दी विकिपीडिया एक ऐसा ऑनलाइन कार्यस्थल है जहाँ कई देशों से कई योगदानकर्ता जुडते हैं और हिन्दी भाषा के ज्ञानकोश को समृद्ध बनाने के लिए अपना योगदान दे रहे हैं। हिन्दी विकिपीडिया में अभी ૧ लाख से भी ज्यादा विषयों के ऊपर लेख बने हैं, भूगोल, गणित, विज्ञान, भौतिकी, व्यक्ति, रसायण आदि सभी प्रमुख विषय और दुनियाभर के शहर, देश, राजी, व्यक्तिओ, इतिहास आदि कि जानकारी उपलब्ध है। विकिपीडिया पे प्रतिदिन लेखों की संख्या में वृद्धि होती रहती है। कोई भी व्यक्ति, किसी भी जगह से, किसी भी विषय पे सर्च करके जानकारी प्रपट कर सकता है। विकिपीडिया का सदस्य बनकर जानकारी दाल भी सकता है।
कुछ लोगों का ऐसा मानना है कि विकिपीडिया में कई लोग कुछ भी लिखते है इसलिए इसकी विश्वसनीयता नहीं है। सदस्योने बताया कि ऐसा नहीं है। ये बात सही है कि विकिपीडिया में कोई भी लिख सकता है और कुछ भी लिखते हैं। लेकिन विकिपीडिया पर पुनरीक्षक और प्रबन्धको की पूरी टिम होती है जिसके द्वारा प्रत्येक सम्पादन कि जांच होती है और अयोग्य संपादनों को पूर्ववत किया जाता है अतઃ इस प्रकार के सम्पादन अल्पकालीन ही होते हैं। विश्वसनीयता के लिए विकिपीडिया के लेखों में प्रत्येक दावे के साठे संदर्भ दिया जाता है। बिना संदर्भ की सामाग्री को हटाया जाता है।
लेख प्रतियोगिता में भी विकि शैली के अनुसार गुणवत्तायुक्त लेखों का निर्माण किया जाएगा। इस प्रतियोगिता में कोई भी सदस्य जुड़ सकता है और किसी भी विषय पे कितने भी लेख बनाकर हिन्दी भाषा को बढ़ावा देने के लिए योगदान कर सकता है।

Hi! I am organizing with other people
WSC this event
. I have informed other wikiversities about the images they can also reuse, and agreed with the Indian jurors that we will make some banner on many Indian language wikipedias at the end of the current Asian month.
In the mean time, since there is no massive campaign yet,
uploaded pictures
are limited. Since you look involved here I am telling you so if you want to inform your people or put a banner here, that would be useful. Otherwise if you have twitter our hashtags are #WSC2017, #WikiScience.
Thank in advance and I hope you can find something useful for hi.wikiversity in the next years in the uploaded photo. We are trying our best to inform students and really expert scientists, but of course a general information campaign and social campaign is always welcome.--

नामस्थान का नाम बदलने से विकि पर काफी प्रभाव पड़ता है, और यदि किसी ने उसकी कड़ी कहीं लगाई हो तो लोग आएंगे भी तो उन्हें वो पृष्ठ नहीं दिखेगा। यदि अनुप्रेषण भी बनाया गया तो वो मुख्य नामस्थान वाला अनुप्रेषण होगा, तो कोई "विकि" शब्द लिखते ही कई सारे अनुप्रेषण सुझाव के रूप में खोजने वाले बॉक्स में दिखेंगे। सर्च इंजन के परिणाम में भी इसका प्रभाव पड़ेगा। बिना अच्छे से सोचे इस तरह के बदलाव नहीं करने चाहिए। यदि ये बदलाव कर ही रहे हैं, तो कृपया इसे स्थायी रखने का प्रयास करें। इसके बाद फिर कोई नया नाम न रखें। --

जी, कोई कड़ी न टूटे इसलिए एक अनुप्रेषण छोड़ दिया जाएगा। और कोई परेशानी न आए इसके लिए namespaceDupes.php को अच्छे से चला दिया जाएगा। और कोई त्रुटि न रहे इसका ध्यान दिया जाएगा। अनुप्रेषण सर्च मे बहुत कम आते है। जैसे हिन्दी विकि मे 10-12 अनुप्रेषण है लेकिन वह सभी तो नहीं आते है। और wikiversity के लिए तीन नाम चुने गए थे, विकीवर्सिटी, विकिविद्यालय, और विकिविश्वविद्यालय। पहला तो हिन्दी शब्द हा ही नहीं। दूसरा नाम हमारी विकि को अच्छी तरह से परिभाषित नहीं कर्ता है। सभी प्रकल्पों मे भी विकिविश्वविद्यालय ही रखा गया है। अंत यह स्थायी ही है।--

जी, जैसा इस प्रश्न का उत्तर मैं ऊपर दे चुका हूँ कि वर्तमान नाम हमारी विकि के वर्तमान स्वरूप को नहीं दर्शाता। यह परियोजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य विश्वविद्यालय या उसके आस पास की सामाग्री उपलब्ध करने के लिए किया गया था। क्यूकी बच्चे जो विद्यालयो मे पढ़ते है उन्हे मार्गदर्शन मे पढ़ाया जाता है जिसके लिए फ़ाउंडेशन की एक परियोजना "विकिकनिष्ठ" है जो वर्तमान मे विकिपुस्तक पर होस्ट की जा रही है। यह इसका सबसे बड़ा कारण है। और सभी प्रकल्पों मे भी विकिविश्वविद्यालय ही रखा गया है। या तो हम सभी को सही करते रहे या फिर जो wikiversity का उचित नाम है। उसे रख ले। वर्तमान मे तो wikiversity का उचित नाम विकिविश्वविद्यालय ही हैं। --

ने हाल ही में मोबाइल वेबसाइट पर पृष्ठ समस्या टेम्पलेट्स को उजागर करने पर काम करना शुरू कर दिया है। वर्तमान में पृष्ठ सामग्री वाली समस्याओं के बारे में विवरण आम तौर पर मोबाइल वेबसाइट पर छिपे हुए हैं। इससे पाठक उनके द्वारा पढ़े जाने वाले पृष्ठों की विश्वसनीयता से अनजान रह जाते हैं। इस परियोजना का लक्ष्य मोबाइल वेब पर किसी लेख के भीतर विशेष समस्याओं के बारे में जागरूकता में सुधार करना है। ऐसा हम पृष्ठ समस्याओं के दृश्य स्टाइल को बदलकर करेंगे।

पाठक पृष्ठ समस्याओं के बारे में परवाह करते हैं और उन्हें महत्वपूर्ण मानते हैं।
विकिपीडिया की पृष्ठ समस्याओं के बारे में सीखने को लेकर पाठकों की भावनाएँ अत्यधिक सकारात्मक थीं।

which are executed in the browser of all readers and editors.) Currently all administrators are able to edit these pages, which poses a serious and unnecessary security risk. Soon, a dedicated, smaller user group will take over this task. Your community will be able to decide who belongs in this group, so this should mean very little change for you. की अध्यक्षता में, १०वें विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन की अनुशंसाओं की अनुपालना हेतु एक समिति का गठन किया गया था उक्त समिति को दसवें विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन के अंतर्गत १२ विषयों की पर प्राप्त अनुशंसाओं के अनुपालन हेतु दायित्व दिया गया था। विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में हिंदी विषय की अनुशंसाओं के अनुपालन हेतु डॉक्टर

, विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री भारत सरकार तथा डॉक्टर मोहनलाल छीपा पूर्व कुलपति अटल बिहारी वाजपेई हिंदी विश्वविद्यालय भोपाल को यह दायित्व प्रदान किया गया था।जिसमें यह अपेक्षा की गई थी कि यदि किसी विभाग/ संस्था/ विश्वविद्यालय/ व्यक्ति या व्यक्तिगत स्तर पर इस संबंध में कोई अनुपालना की गई हो तो उसकी जानकारी दें जिससे कि विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में हिंदी विषयक प्रतिवेदन में शामिल कर १८ से २० अगस्त २०१८ मॉरीशस में होने वाले ग्यारहवें विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन में उसकी जानकारी दी जा सके।

’ में हिन्दी विकिपीडिया/ विश्वविद्यालय के कार्यो की न केवल सराहना प्रकाशित हुई (पृष्ठ क्रमांक 176,197,199,205,213 आदि ) बल्कि अन्य हिन्दी परियोजनाओं/कार्यक्रमों का कई बार इस पुस्तक में प्रमुखता से उल्लेख हुआ इस प्रकार विकिपीडिया के कार्यो की न केवल भारत बल्कि सम्पूर्ण विश्व में जानकारी और मान बढ़ा है, इस हेतु विकिमीडिया फाउंडेशन, सम्पूर्ण हिंदी विकिपीडिया एवं अन्य हिन्दी प्रकल्पों के सदस्यों को हार्दिक बधाई। --

नमस्ते सर्वेभ्यः
१४ सितंबर को हिन्दी दिवस है और इसे भारत समेत कई देशों में मनाया जाता है। हिन्दी भारत की आधिकारिक राजभाषा भी है। साथ ही पाकिस्तान, बांग्लादेश, नेपाल आदि एशियाई देश एवं मोरिसश जैसे अफ्रीकी देशों में भी हिन्दी बोली जाती है।
हिन्दी भाषा को बढ़ावा मिले और हिन्दी भाषा के एकमेव ऑनलाइन ज्ञानकोष विकिपीडिया के लेखों में गुणवत्ता युक्त लेखों की वृद्धि हो इस हेतु से हिन्दी विकिपीडिया १४ सितंबर से एक माह तक लेख प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन कर रहा है।
हिन्दी की अन्य भगिनी भाषाएँ जैसे बंगाली, गुजराती, मराठी, पंजाबी, मैथिली, भोजपुरी आदि भाषाओं को जानने वाले सदस्य हिन्दी जानते हैं। उर्दू भी हिन्दी की भगिनी भाषा है और उर्दूभाषी सदस्य भी हिन्दी का अच्छा ज्ञान रखते हैं। देखा गया है कि अन्यभाषी सदस्य हिन्दी से अधिक अंग्रेजी विकि में योगदान देते हैं अथवा हिन्दी के दूसरे प्रकल्पों में अधिक सक्रिय हैं। हमारा प्रयास है कि हिन्दी दिवस के इस अवसर पर हम हिन्दी जानने वालें सदस्यों को हिन्दी विकिपीडिया के साथ जुड़ने का अवसर प्रदान करें।
इस प्रतियोगिता का आरंभ १४ सितंबर से होगा और १ महीने तक लेख बनाये जाएंगे। आप किसी भी विषय पर लेख बना सकते हैं। प्रतियोगिता पूर्ण होने के बाद परिणाम घोषित होगा और विजेताओं को पुरस्कृत किया जाएगा।

मेरा नाम रूपिका शर्मा है और मैं विकिमीडिआ फाउंडेशन द्वारा नियुक्त हिंदी भाषा की रणनीति समन्वयक हूँ। अगले कुछ महीने मैं हिंदी भाषा समुदाय के साथ रणनीति प्रक्रिया के बारे में चर्चाएँ करुँगी जो 2030 तक विकिमीडिया परियोजनाओं में होने वाले बदलाव को परिभाषित करेंगी।
2017 में आंदोलन रणनीति प्रक्रिया का पहला चक्र शुरू हुआ था जिसमे हिंदी समुदाय के सदस्यों ने भाग लिया था जिससे हम रणनीतिक दिशा की ओर बढ़ सके और अभी 2018 से 2020 तक दूसरा चक्र चल रहा है। इसमें हम विकिमीडिया की भविष्य की भूमिका को ध्यान में रखते हुए और अपनी संरचनाओं को अद्यतन करने के लिए एक सहयोगी रणनीति विकसित करने के लिए एक व्यापक चर्चा शुरू करेंगे जिससे हम 2030 तक अपनी रणनीतिक दिशा में सफलतापूर्वक आगे बढ़ सकें।
विकिमीडिया परियोजनाएं अपने उपयोगकर्ताओं की जरूरतों को बेहतर ढंग से कैसे पूरा करें? हिंदी समुदाय के सदस्यों को विचार-विमर्श में भाग लेकर इस रणनीतिक दिशा को प्रभावित करने का न्योता दिया जा रहा है।

Section editing
The purpose is to help contributors focus on their edits.
The team studied this with an A/B test.
This test showed
that contributors who could use section editing were

the edits they started than people with only full-page editing.

The purpose is to smooth the transition between reading and editing.

मसौदा सिफ़ारिशें
(draft recommendations) प्रकाशित हो चुकीं हैं। सिफ़ारिशों को नौ विकिमीडिया कार्यकारी समूहों द्वारा विकसित किया गया है और हमारे आंदोलन के भविष्य के निर्माण में मदद करने के लिए यह एक महत्वपूर्ण उपकरण हैं। यह उन तरीकों पर पहली नज़र डालते हैं, जिनसे हम अपने आंदोलन की संरचनाओं को अपनी सामरिक दिशा में आगे बढ़ने में मदद कर सकते हैं।

ड्राफ्ट सिफ़ारिशें पर सामुदायिक प्रतिक्रिया के लिए विकिमेनिया एक बड़ा अवसर था। प्रत्येक विषयगत क्षेत्र में न्यूनतम 25 से 80 तक लोग ने कार्यकारी समूह के सदस्यों के साथ बैठकर रणनीति बैठक (strategy space) में साथ मिलकर चर्चा की। कार्यकारी समूह के सदस्य अब उन विचारों और सिफ़ारिशें को शामिल करने के लिए काम कर रहे हैं जो उनके साथ साझा किए गए थे।
हार्मोनाइजेशन स्प्रिंट के बाद, कार्यकारी समूह अपने विचारों को एक साथ परिष्कृत करना जारी रखेंगे।

was a global consultation to define better tools for wiki communication. From February through June 2019, more than 500 volunteers on 20 wikis, across 15 languages and multiple projects, came together with members of the Foundation to create a product direction for a set of discussion tools. The

संपर्क सूत्र के लिए किसी सदस्य द्वारा प्रस्ताव प्राप्त न होने की स्थिति में वर्तमान संपर्क सूत्र संजीव जी तथा मैं इस भूमिका को अगले ६ महीने तक जारी रखने पर सहमति प्रदान करते हैं। किसी सदस्य के संपर्क सूत्र बनने के लिए प्रस्तुत होने पर हम पुनः संपर्क सूत्र निर्वाचन प्रक्रिया प्रारंभ करने को प्रस्तुत हैं।

जमा होने के साथ सम्मेलन संबंधी प्रक्रिया पूर्ण हो चुकी है। १४ जुलाई की आखिरी तिथि तक हमने अपना कार्य पूरा कर लिया है। इस तीन कार्यशाला, एक तीन दिवसीय सम्मेलन, तथा अंततः एक माह के संपादनोत्सव की सुदीर्घ यात्रा में संजीव, अजीत, पीयूष, सौरभ एवं नीलम जैसे आयोजन समिति के सदस्यों, सहयोगियों, प्रतिभागियों एवं शुभचिंतकों के प्रति हिंदी विकिमीडियन्स यूजर ग्रूप आभार व्यक्त करता है। हमें खुशी है की सितंबर में बढ़े हुए कार्यकाल की समाप्ति के पूर्व हम अपना काम पूरा कर सके। हमें इन प्रयासों के बीच हिंदी विकिस्रोत पर एक लाख पुस्तक पृष्ठ यंत्राभिज्ञानित (ओसीआर) होने की, तथा विकिपुस्तक पर एक हजार पुस्तक अध्याय बनने की उपलब्धि हासिल किए जाने पर भी बेहद प्रसन्नता है ।

संपर्क-सूत्र के लिए सदस्यों का प्रस्ताव प्राप्त न होने की स्थिति में निवर्तमान संपर्क सूत्र (अनिरुद्ध कुमार और संजीव कुमार) ने अगले एक वर्ष तक इस दायित्व को निभाने का निश्चय किया है। इसके बाद हम स्वयं ही नए सदस्यों के निर्वाचन का प्रस्ताव लेकर आएंगे। इससे पूर्व भी तीन सदस्य संपर्क-सूत्र बनने की इच्छा प्रकट करते हैं तो हम निर्वाचन प्रक्रिया पुनः शुरु करेंगे। इस संबंध में सदस्यों की सम्मति, सहमति या असहमति का स्वागत है।

. Under this policy, bots that fix double redirects or maintain interwiki links are allowed to operate under a global bot flag that is assigned directly by the stewards.
As the Wikimedia projects developed, the need for the current global bot policy decreased, and in the past years, no bots were appointed via that policy. That is mainly given Wikidata were estabilished in 2013, and it is no longer necessary to have dozens of bots that maintain interwiki links.

Hello everyone,
I apologize for posting in English. I would like to inform everyone that I created a new global request for comment (GRFC) at Meta Wiki, which may affect your project:
m:Requests for comment/Set short project namespace aliases by default globally
In this GRFC, I propose that two-project shortcuts for project names will become a default alias for the project namespace. For instance, on all Wikipedias, WP will be an alias to the Wikipedia: namespace (and similar for other projects). Full list is available in the GRFC.
This is already the case for Wikivoyages, and many individual projects asked for this alias to be implemented. I believe this makes it easier to access the materials in the project namespace, as well as creating shortcuts like
WP:NPOV
, as well as helps new projects to use this feature, without having to figure out how to request site configuration changes first.
As far as I can see, विकिविश्वविद्यालय currently does not have such an alias set. This means that such an alias will be set for you, if the GRFC is accepted by the global community.

was closed.
Global bots are now subject to a 2 week discussion, and it'll be publicized via a MassMessage list, available at
Bot policy/New global bot discussion
on Meta. Please subscribe yourself or your wiki if you are interested in new global bots proposals.
For a bot to be considered for approval, it must demonstrate it is welcomed in multiple projects, and a good way to do that is to have the bot flag on at least 5 wikis for a single task.
The bot operator should make sure to adhere to the wiki's preference as related to the use of the bot flag (i.e., if a wiki doesn't want a bot to use the flag as it edits, that should be followed).

hosted virtually
for the first time in the event's 15-year history. Since there is no in-person host, the event is being organized by a diverse group of Wikimedia volunteers that form the
Core Organizing Team
(COT) for Wikimania 2021.
Event Program
- Individuals or a group of individuals can submit their session proposals to be a part of the program. There will be translation support for sessions provided in a number of languages. See more information

When newcomers had the Reply tool and tried to post on a talk page, they were more successful at posting a comment. (

Earlier this year, the Editing team ran a large study of
the Reply Tool
. The main goal was to find out whether the Reply Tool helped
newer editors
communicate on wiki. The second goal was to see whether the comments that newer editors made using the tool needed to be reverted more frequently than comments newer editors made with the existing wikitext page editor.
The key results were:
Newer editors who had automatic ("default on") access to the Reply tool were
more likely
to post a comment on a talk page.
The comments that newer editors made with the Reply Tool were also
less likely
to be reverted than the comments that newer editors made with page editing.
These results give the Editing team confidence that the tool is helpful.
Looking ahead
The team is planning to make the Reply tool available to everyone as an opt-out preference in the coming months. This has already happened at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
The next step is to
resolve a technical challenge
. Then, they will deploy the Reply tool first to the
Wikipedias that participated in the study
. After that, they will deploy it, in stages, to the other Wikipedias and all WMF-hosted wikis.

m:Coolest Tool Award
is looking for nominations!
Tools play an essential role for the Wikimedia projects, and so do the many volunteer developers who experiment with new ideas and develop and maintain local and global solutions to support the Wikimedia communities. The Coolest Tool Award aims to recognize and celebrate the coolest tools in a variety of categories.

). We, the team organizing the Survey, need your help.
Translate important messages
Promote the Survey
Among anyone and everyone you know who has an account on wiki.
Promote the Survey on social media, via instant messaging apps, in other groups and chats, in your WikiProject, Wikimedia affiliate - wherever contributors with registered accounts may be.
Only you can make the difference
How many people will hear and read about the Survey in their language? How many will decide to participate? Will there be enough of you to vote for a change you would like to see? It all depends on you, volunteers.
Why are we asking?
We have improved the documentation
. It's friendlier and easier to use. This will mean little if it's only in English.
Thousands of volunteers haven't participated in the Survey yet. We'd like to improve that, too. Three years ago, 1387 people participated. Last year, there were 1773 of them. We hope that in the upcoming edition, there will be even more. You are better than us in contacting Wikimedians outside of wikis. We have prepared some images to share. More to come.
What is the Community Wishlist Survey?
It's an annual survey that allows contributors to the Wikimedia projects to propose and vote for tools and platform improvements. Long years of experience in editing or technical skills are not required.

Hello,
Over the next months we will gradually change the audio and video player of Wikis from Kultura to Video.js and with that, the old player won’t be accessible anymore. The new player has been active as a beta feature since May 2017.
The new player has many advantages, including better design, consistent look with the rest of our interface, better compatibility with browsers, ability to work on mobile which means our multimedia will be properly accessible on iPhone, better accessibility and many more.
The old player has been unmaintained for eight years now and is home-brewn (unlike the new player which is a widely used open source project) and uses deprecated and abandoned frameworks such as jQuery UI. Removing the old player’s code also improves performance of the Wikis for anyone visiting any page (by significantly reducing complexity of the dependency graph of our ResourceLoader modules. See

). The old player has many open bugs that we will be able to close as resolved after this migration.
The new player will solve a lot of old and outstanding issues but also it will have its own bugs. All important ones have been fixed but there will be some small ones to tackle in the future and after the rollout.
What we are asking now is to turn on the beta feature for the new player and let us know about any issues.

Yesterday the
Wikimedia Foundation noted
that in the interests of the security of our users, the
Graph extension
was disabled. This means that pages that were formerly displaying graphs will now display a small blank area. To help readers understand this situation, communities can now define a brief message that can be displayed to readers in place of each graph until this is resolved. That message can be defined on each wiki at
MediaWiki:Graph-disabled
. Wikimedia Foundation staff are looking at options available and expected timelines. For updates, follow the public Phabricator task for this issue:

We have recently become unable to access the WorldCat API which provided the ability to generate citations using ISBN numbers. The Wikimedia Foundation's
Editing team
is investigating several options to restore the functionality, but will need to disable ISBN citation generation for now.
This affects citations made with the
VisualEditor Automatic tab
, and the use of the citoid API in gadgets and user scripts, such as the autofill button on
refToolbar
. Please note that all the other automatic ways of generating citations, including via URL or DOI, are still available.
You can keep updated on the situation
via Phabricator
, or by reading the next issues of
m:Tech News
. If you know of any users or groups who rely heavily on this feature (for instance, someone who has an upcoming editathon), I'd appreciate it if you shared this update with them.

हाल में हिंदी विकिपीडिया तथा विकिस्रोत पर आयोजित संपादनोत्सव के अच्छे नतीजों से उत्साहित होकर हम गूगल तथा फाउंडेशन के साथ साझेदारी की योजना को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं।। इसके अंतर्गत हम अगले एक वर्ष तक हर तिमाही में निम्नलिखित गतिविधियां करने का प्रयास करेंगें-
ऑनलाइन संपादनोत्सव (विकिपीडिया तथा भगिनी प्रकल्पों पर)
स्थानीय सामुदायिक बैठक एवं एकदिवसीय ऑफलाइन सामूहिक संपादनोत्सव (दिल्ली, बनारस, कोलकाता आदि में संभावित)
संस्थागत भागिदारी एवं कौशल विकास कार्यशाला (दिल्ली, उत्तर-प्रदेश, बंगाल, मिजोरम के विश्वविद्यालयों में संभावित)
ये कार्यक्रम हर तीन माह पर होंगे। इनके जरिए हम जून 2023 से मई 2024 तक निम्नलिखित लक्ष्यों को हासिल करने का प्रयास करेंगे:
विकिपीडिया पर २०० से अधिक शब्दों वाले 5,000 नए लेख।
विकिपीडिया के 500 लेखों का विस्तार 1500 से अधिक शब्दों तक।
विकिस्रोत पर 5,000 से अधिक पृष्ठों का शोधन।
100 से अधिक नए सक्रिय सदस्यों को जोड़ना।
इन लक्ष्यों को हासिल करने के लिए 16 से 30 अक्तूबर तक विकिपीडिया पर तथा 1 से 15 नवंबर तक विकिस्रोत पर गुणवत्ता संवर्धन संपादनोत्सव का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
स्थानीय सामुदायिक बैठक के लिए सदस्य किसी नए शहर का नाम सुझा सकते हैं जहाँ वे स्वयं आयोजक का दायित्व निभा सकें तथा जहाँ कम-से-कम 10 से अधिक विकिपीडियन सक्रीय सदस्य हों।
सांस्थानिक कार्यशाला के लिए किसी संस्थान का नाम भी सुझा सकते हैं जहाँ कोई एक अच्छा विकिपीडियन मौजूद हो ताकी कार्यशाला के बाद के प्रगति की देख-रेख की जा सके।

पर आहूत की गयी है, क्योंकि यह अनुवाद उचित नहीं प्रतीत हो रहा और न ही इसे लागू करने से पूर्व किसी हिंदी प्रकल्प पर कोई चर्चा या सहमति आहूत की गयी थी। अतः आप सभी विकिविश्वविद्यालय सदस्यों से इस चर्चा में भाग लेने हेतु आग्रह किया जाता है।

9 जुलाई 2024 तक विकिमीडिया मूवमेंट चार्टर को तीन पक्षों फाउंडेशन, संपादक सदस्य तथा समुदाय द्वारा मतदान कर अनुमोदित करने के पक्ष या विपक्ष में अपनी राय देनी है। कोई संपादक खाता मतदान के लिए योग्य है या नहीं इसकी जाँच आप अपना सदस्य नाम लिखकर
खाता अर्हता उपकरण
के सहारे कर सकते हैं। कोई सदस्य निजी स्तर पर क्या मत देंगें इसका निर्णय उन्हें स्वयं करना है और यह गोपनीय रहेगा। कॉमन्स पर
घोषणापत्र पीडीएफ प्रारूप में
उपलब्ध है।
मैं हिंदी विकिमीडियन्स यूजर ग्रूप की ओर से भी मतदान करूँगा जिसके लिए सदस्यों की राय की अपेक्षा है। राय बनाने में सुविधा के लिए मैं इस घोषणापत्र की तीन सकारात्मक तथा तीन नकारात्मक बातों का उल्लेख कर रहा हूँ:
• सकारात्मक बातें-
ग्लोबल काउंसिल के रूप में फाउंडेशन पहली बार संपादक सदस्यों के सामूहिक विवेक को विकिपीडिया आंदोलन के भीतर औपचारिक रूप में मान्यता दे रहा है। इसके 25 सदस्यों में से 12 संपादक सदस्यों तथा 8 समुदायों द्वारा चुने जाने हैं। इनमें एक भाषा, समुदाय या वर्ग का बर्चस्व नहीं हो सकता है।
ग्लोबल काउंसिल अपने चारों कार्यक्षेत्रों में सर्वोच्च होगी जिसमें विकि फाउंडेशन से प्राप्त अनुदान के विभिन्न परियोजनाओं के वितरण का अधिकार भी शामिल है। चूंकि काउंसिल विकिपीडिया के संपादक सदस्य चुनेंगें इसलिए धन के आवंटन में अधिक जिम्मेदारी की संभावना है।
इस घोषणापत्र के जरिए पहली बार विकिपीडिया आंदोलन में शामिल विभिन्न तत्वों जैसे संपादक सदस्य, संगठन, फाउंडेशन, ग्लोबल काउंसिल आदि को परिभाषित कर उनके कार्यों को स्पष्ट रूप से निर्दिष्ट किया गया है। ग्लोबल काउंसिल के जरिए संपादक सदस्यों एवं समुदायों को विकिपीडिया आंदोलन पर स्वामित्व भी दिया गया है।
• नकारात्मक बातें:
ग्लोबल काउंसिल की शक्तियाँ बहुत सीमित है। मसलन वह फाउंडेशन द्वारा दिए धन का आवंटन मात्र कर सकता है। फाउंडेशन उसे कितना धन देगा यह पूरी तरह फाउंडेशन की मर्जी पर निर्भर है क्योंकि चार्टर में इसके संबंध में कोई निर्देश नहीं है। इसलिए यह एक कमजोर संगठन बनने वाला है। अनुमान है कि फाउंडेशन उसे अपने धन का लगभग 10 से अधिकतम 20 प्रतिशत हिस्सा ही आवंटन के लिए देने वाला है।
ग्लोबल काउंसिल के कार्यक्षेत्र में फाउंडेशन को निर्देशित करने वाली कोई शक्तियाँ नहीं है। उसे विकिपीडिया के लिए धन जुटाने संबंधी निर्णय लेने का भी अधिकार नहीं है। वह अपनी गतिविधियाँ चलाने तथा उसके लिए कर्मचारियों का प्रबंध करने के लिए भी फाउंडेशन पर ही निर्भर रहेगा। तकनीकि विकास भी ग्लोबल काउंसिल के कार्यक्षेत्र से बाहर रखा गया है तथा इसके लिए अलग से तकनीकी काउंसिल बनाया गया है।
अंततः ग्लोबल काउंसिल 100 सदस्यों की संस्था बनेगी ताकी सभी समुदायों परियोजनाओं तथा भौगोलिक क्षेत्रों को पर्याप्त प्रतिनिधित्व मिले किंतु ऐसा समय कब आयेगा यह निश्चित नहीं है। चार्टर आरंभिक तौर पर 25 सदस्यों वाली काउंसिल के गठन की व्यवस्था कर रहा है। सदस्यों की संख्या हर डेढ़ साल के बाद 25 बढ़ाई जा सकती है। यानी सबकुछ ठीक रहा तो भी पहली बार गठन के पाँच वर्ष के बाद ही काउंसिल सौ सदस्यों वाली हो सकती है वह भी तब जब काउंसिल और फाउंडेशन के सदस्य आकार बढ़ाने पर सहमत हों।
ये सकारात्मक और नकारात्मक बिंदु घोषणापत्र को समझने में सुविधा के लिए दिए गए हैं। आप घोषणापत्र पढ़कर हिंदी विकिमीडियन्स यूजर ग्रूप की राय बनाने में मदद कर सकते हैं। --

Hello everyone, I previously wrote on the 27th September to advise that the
Wikidata item
sitelink will change places in the sidebar menu, moving from the
General
section into the
In Other Projects
section. The scheduled rollout date of 04.10.2024 was delayed due to a necessary request for Mobile/MinervaNeue skin. I am happy to inform that the global rollout can now proceed and will occur later today, 22.10.2024 at 15:00 UTC-2.

if you notice any problems or bugs after this change. There should be no need for null-edits or purging cache for the changes to occur. Kind regards, -

2025 की जनवरी में विकिपीडिया तथा फरवरी में विकिस्रोत पर आयोजित ऑनलाइन संपादनोत्सव के बाद उच्च शैक्षिक संस्थानों के साथ भागीदारी के अगले प्रयास के रूप में पश्चिम बंगाल के कल्याणी शहर में हम तीन कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन कर रहे हैं। कल्याणी एवं कोलकाता तथा उसके सौ किलोमीटर के दायरे के विकि सदस्य पहले दो कार्यक्रमों में जुड़ने के लिए आयोजन पृष्ठ पर प्रतिभागियों के लिए बनाए प्रपत्र में पंजियन करा सकते हैं। तीनों कार्यक्रमों के नाम तथा विकिपृष्ठ की कड़ियाँ निम्नलिखित हैं।
विकिपीडिया:हिंदी विकिपीडिया कौशल विकास कार्यशाला/फ़रवरी 2025
- 21 फरवरी 2025 को कल्याणी विश्वविद्यालय, कल्याणी, पश्चिम बंगाल, भारत में आयोजित एक दिवसीय उच्च शैक्षिक संस्थान प्रशिक्षण कार्यशाला।

Hi all! We have good news to share regarding the ongoing problem with graphs and charts affecting all wikis that use them.
As you probably know, the
old Graph extension
was disabled in 2023
due to security reasons
. We’ve worked in these two years to find a solution that could replace the old extension, and provide a safer and better solution to users who wanted to showcase graphs and charts in their articles. We therefore developed the
Charts extension
, which will be replacing the old Graph extension and potentially also the
EasyTimeline extension
After successfully deploying the extension on Italian, Swedish, and Hebrew Wikipedia, as well as on MediaWiki.org, as part of a pilot phase, we are now happy to announce that we are moving forward with the next phase of deployment, which will also include your wiki.
The deployment will happen in batches, and will start from
May 6
. Please, consult
our page on MediaWiki.org
to discover when the new Charts extension will be deployed on your wiki. You can also
consult the documentation
about the extension on MediaWiki.org.

हिंदी विकिमीडियन्स यूजर ग्रूप तथा गूगल के बीच साझेदारी का दूसरा वर्ष शुरु हो चुका है।
पहले कार्यक्रम के रूप में जनवरी तथा फरवरी में आयोजित संपादनोत्सवों की पुरस्कार राशी सभी विजेता प्रतिभागियों को भेजी जा चुकी है।
हिंदी विकिपीडिया पर अगला संपादनोत्सव अक्टूबर 2025 में तथा विकिस्रोत पर नवंबर 2025 में आयोजित होगा।
हिंदीविकिमीडियन्स ग्रूप ने हिंदी विकि सम्मेलन 2026 आयोजित करने का निस्चय किया है।
1 अक्टूबर से 23 अक्टूबर 2025 के बीच तीन नए संपर्क सूत्रों के निर्वाचन की प्रक्रिया सुरु की जा रही है।
यदि हिंदी विकि के संपादक कोई प्रशिक्षण, कार्यशाला, या बैठक करना चाहते हैं तथा इसके लिए आर्थिक सहयोग की आवश्यकता है तो इसके लिए संपर्क सूत्रों से संपर्क कर सकते हैं। --

This is a notice regarding an ongoing data migration on Wikidata that may affect your election-related templates and Lua modules (such as
Module:Itemgroup/list
).
The Change:
Currently, many templates pull electoral maps from Wikidata using the property
P1846
, combined with the qualifier
P180
Q19571328
We are migrating this data (across roughly 4,000 items) to a newly created, dedicated property:
P14226
What You Need To Do:
To ensure your templates and infoboxes do not break or lose their maps, please update your local code to fetch data from
P14226
instead of the old
P1846
P180
structure. A
list of pages
was generated using Wikimedia Global Search.
Deadline:
We are temporarily retaining the old data on
P1846
to allow for a smooth transition. However, to complete the data cleanup on Wikidata, the old
P1846
statements will be removed after
May 1, 2026
. Please update your modules and templates before this date to prevent any disruption to your wiki's election articles.

Indic Wikimedia Hackathon Hyderabad 2026
, scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from 26 - 28 June 2026 (with 25 June as Day 0), in collaboration with the
IIITH-OKI
and
OSDG
club at
International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad
Wikimedia hackathons are spaces for developers, designers, content editors, and other community stakeholders to collaborate on building technical solutions that help improve tools, workflows, and overall user experience across Wikimedia projects.
The hackathon is intended for:
Technical contributors active in the Wikimedia technical ecosystem, including developers, maintainers (admins/interface admins), translators, designers, researchers, documentation writers, etc.
Content contributors having an in-depth understanding of technical issues in their home Wikimedia projects like Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wiktionary, etc.
Contributors from other FOSS communities or those who have participated in Wikimedia events in the past and would like to begin contributing to Wikimedia technical spaces.
Participants may work on curated hackathon tasks and are also encouraged to propose their own ideas, supported by a clear problem statement and a proposed approach.
To encourage participation and support promising contributions, scholarships will be provided to support participants’ related expenses.
