Overview
The Wandering Earth (流浪地球) is a 2019 Chinese sci-fi film directed by Frant Gwo, based on Liu Cixins novella. Starring Wu Jing, it grossed 4.688 billion yuan and scored 7.9 on Douban. A landmark in Chinese science fiction cinema.
Plot
Scientists discover the sun is dying. Humanity builds over 10,000 planetary engines to propel Earth out of the solar system toward Alpha Centauri. In 2075, when Earth passes near Jupiter, engine failures put the planet on a collision course. Astronaut Liu Peiqiang and his son Liu Qi must save humanity.
