Admission
Tickets may be purchased at the front desk or
online
up to 60 days in advance. Reserving tickets online is not required, but encouraged. Admission tickets for MCD Members, children 12+ under, EBT, active-duty military personnel, first-responders, and members of NARM and ROAM are free.
As part of the
SF Museums for All program
, visitors who are part of Medi-Cal or Cal Fresh programs can get 4 free admission passes each visit!

MCD is closed on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Indigenous People’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Free First Thursdays
: Admission is free for all visitors on the first Thursday of every month!

Coat check is self-serve and located to the left of the restrooms.
Bags larger than 11″x 15″ are not permitted in the galleries and can be checked at the front desk if needed.
Hand sanitizer units will be available throughout the museum.
MCD has enhanced its cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the day.

Tours and Workshops
Tours
Interested in bringing a group to tour the Museum of Craft and Design?
MCD offers school and all-ages children’s group tours free. Student tours are designed with student-led interactive elements, and MCD educators will work with teachers to include connections to your classroom curriculum, when possible.
School groups are limited to groups 15 students. Larger groups will be divided into separate tours scheduled consecutively.
Adult group tours are docent-led and can include participants of all ages. Touch tours are available upon request. Groups of all types are welcome to interact with hands-on in-gallery projects, and/or pick up a take-home MakeArt Kit, depending on availability.
Workshops
The Museum of Craft and Design hosts workshops for up to 15 people in the MakeArt Lab. Workshops are approximately 90 minutes.
Menu Workshops ($12/person): Dive deep into our current exhibition or choose a classic craft from our menu | 1.5 hours
Custom Workshop ($15/person): A project developed for your group by MCD educators | 1.5 hours

Tour duration is approximately 45 minutes. Subject to availability.

3:00pm – 3:45pm
Rates (Includes general admission)
5 person minimum to book
$12 Adult | $10 Seniors (Ages 65+)
Free: Children (under 12), School Groups (all ages), Chaperones
Grades K-5 require 1 chaperone per 5 students
Grades 6-12 require 1 chaperone per 10 students
Location
The Museum of Craft and Design is located at 2569 Third Street (between 22nd and 23rd), in the historic American Industrial Center in San Francisco’s vibrant Dogpatch neighborhood. The T Third Muni Metro, the 48, 15, and 55 bus stops are within one block of the Museum. Please double-check all current bus and transit schedules.
For those coming from the East Bay or within San Francisco: From Powell Station, go one level up from BART and proceed to the Union Square MUNI Metro station. Once at the MUNI Metro station, take the T Sunnydale outbound train, stop at 23rd Street platform, and walk back to 2569 Third Street.
Finding street parking in the neighborhoods and industrial areas around the Museum can sometimes be a challenge.
There is a paid lot at 20th Street and Illinois Street.
