The Journey
edit
Wiki Voice Visuals began in 2025 with the vision of contributing free, high-quality audio and video content in Igbo and other African languages to Wikimedia Commons. Founded by
Kwesike Nkwachukwu Nuria
and
Obed Makolo
, this initiative was conceived after a quick observation that pictures and photos were becoming the primary focus of Wiki projects, while videos and audio recordings received far less recognition — even though they are vital mediums through which much of African culture is most vividly expressed.
The initiative Focus: Contributing free, high-quality audio and video content in Igbo and other African languages to Wikimedia Commons.
Theme: Language, culture, storytelling, oral history, traditional knowledge.
🎯 Goal: Document our culture, language, and stories for the world
🛠 Skills needed: Audio, video, editing, storytelling, voiceovers
🌍 Open to everyone – beginners, learners, and pros!
> Let’s preserve our voice, the wiki way!
