Our wiki is the open space where your ideas can be nurtured and bloom!
It is created and maintained to
empower experiments in wiki-making forms and new content.
The idea was inspired by a recurring theme that came up at the
2019 NYC Wiknic
, that
expanding partnerships and diversity requires greater flexibility
with the starting of new "spore" mini-projects to support new directions for the Wikimedia movement.
Wikispore consists of
spores
, which are experimental mini-wikis. Each spore is, or will be, hosted in its own namespace.
The following spores have been assigned their own namespace:
Spores consist of pages called
leaves
. Each spore has its own inclusion criteria and style guide for its leaves.
Leaves incorporate a variety of suitable
sources
, such as
oral knowledge
Exemplary leaves can be awarded a
laurel
for excellence through a community process.
The
tripod
principles are the practices guiding and defining Wikispore as a project. They are as follows:
Put down roots...
by
linking every page to a Wikidata item
where possible.
Dig carefully...
by only making extensive use of primary
sources
and original research when reasonable and well-established.
No weeds...
by not tolerating harmful content or behavior, given the risks of our wider inclusion criteria.
There are
a few ways to help
the project thrive: you can focus on the content of existing spores so they can take root and develop, or you can pollinate ideas for a totally new spore!
