Police are using so-called “crime-predicting” technology to surveil and monitor us - without our consent!
Police use these technologies to target people and neighbourhoods BEFORE crimes take place. These technologies are built on existing, flawed, police data, so communities who have historically been over policed are more likely to be identified as at ‘risk’ of future criminal behaviour.
Police already have extensive powers which they use to target, harass and stop and search innocent people.
History has shown that when the police are given new tools, Black and racialised communites bear the brunt of the harm.
We all want to feel safe in our local neighbourhood - but “crime-predicting” technology will only makes us more paranoid.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
Across the country, communities are taking a stand to demand #SafetyNotSurveillance – and you can too!
Local councils have the power to pass a motion condemning the police use of “crime-predicting” technology.
In just 1 minute, you can send a powerful message urging your local representatives to take action and #BanCrimePredictingTech
Act now – fill out your details and make your voice heard!
