Energy Auditor
Certification
Turn Insights into Real Results
BPI’s Energy Auditor Certification has been updated with new written and field exams that have launched on February 28th, 2026.
Why Earn Your EA Certification?
Take your career to the next level with the Home Energy Professional (HEP) Energy Auditor certification from BPI. Backed by the U.S. Department of Energy and NLR, this advanced certification proves your ability to evaluate a home’s energy efficiency, health, and safety using diagnostic tools and modeling software. It’s a recognized credential for federal tax credits and contractor grant programs - giving you a competitive edge in the growing clean energy workforce.
The HEP Energy Auditor is listed as an example certification in the State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grants Program Administrative and Legal Requirements Document. Additionally, contractors can use the certification to qualify for the Contractor Training Grant Program administered by the State Energy Offices. The U.S. Department of Energy has recognized BPI's Energy Auditor certification as Energy Skilled in the Single Family Home Energy Audit category.
